Window tinting
How to document a window tint job
A bubble complaint a month later does not care how busy the bay was. What still helps is the same glass before the film and after it, the VLT you metered, and one link they can open without calling. That record is what a window tinting tool is for. Quotes, roll counts, and cut plans belong somewhere else.
The useful habit is a short timeline that looks the same on every car. Film inventory and the quote can stay in the system you already trust for those.

SMS or WhatsApp opens with this filled in. The shop sends it. Opeo does not.
A timeline that stays familiar
Shops that stop retelling the job keep one timeline, usually named Window tint. The customer sees the same kind of page every visit. The example above is Accord · sides and back at Northbay Tint.
1. Drop-off
The note that still helps a month later names the film, the VLT, and which glass is in the job. Next to it: one photo of each opening before the film, glass filling the frame, and a close-up only where the glass is already chipped or scratched. A bubble complaint is easier when that set is still on the link.
2. In the bay
Same-day tints rarely need a bay step. It earns a place when the car stays overnight or the film is still on order, so they can see why the bay is quiet. One wide shot is enough. More angles of the same car do not help a warranty claim.
3. Ready
Ready means you would hand over the keys. The page then shows that step done. The photos are the same openings as drop-off, from the same side, plus the meter if a VLT was part of the sale.
4. Picked up
Most shops skip a separate pickup step and add no photo here. Completing the job is the handoff. A last close-up matters only if they point at a spot at the desk.
A text that still makes sense later
These are the two texts worth sending: one when the car stays, one when it is ready. Both name the shop and the same link. The message goes out from the shop’s phone. Opeo does not send it and does not keep the chat.
When they leave the car
Hi, this is Northbay Tint. Your tint is on this page, with photos as we go: https://opeo.io/fszZ1NF/
When the car is ready
Hi, this is Northbay Tint. The tint is done and the car is ready. Photos are on the same page: https://opeo.io/fszZ1NF/
Enough photos, not a gallery
The frames that matter are the ones you would want open on their phone during the argument. Matching the angle before and after beats another angle of the same panel.
| Stage | What to shoot | How many |
|---|---|---|
| Before film | Each opening in the job, from outside, glass filling the frame | 1 per opening |
| Existing damage | Chip, scratch, or dot matrix already in the glass | 1 close-up per spot, only if you see one |
| After film | The same openings, same side of the car | 1 per opening |
| VLT | Meter on the glass you quoted | 1 |
A four-door with five openings is about ten glass photos plus the meter. Fronts-only is four photos plus the meter. Three angles of one door are the shots shops regret, because they crowd out glass that was actually tinted. Free holds 15 photos on a job, Starter 30, Pro 60, Scale 150. The wide bay shot is the first one worth skipping when the glass set is already complete.
Plan limits are per job, not per step. Pricing lists 15 on Free, 30 on Starter, 60 on Pro, and 150 on Scale. A short video uses one of those slots too.
Common questions
Does Opeo send the text to the customer?
No. SMS and WhatsApp open on your phone with the draft filled in. You hit send. Opeo does not send, store, or read that conversation.
Can the customer see my other cars?
No. The link is one job. Your other jobs, prices, and customer list stay on your side of the login.
Should every tint use the same timeline?
Yes. A template named Window tint keeps drop-off, the bay if the car stays, and ready in the same order on every job. Shops that invent steps per car end up with pages the customer cannot compare to the last visit.
The same habit, on a real job
The short version for someone comparing tools is on the Window tinting overview. The first car can go on a free job link.
